Update
3rd July 2011 It has been a couple of months since any update so I'd like to briefly discuss what's happening in terms of development. For the last few weeks I have been working on Commentics v1.6. This version is a maintenance release which largely aims to improve existing features and address long-standing bugs. The reason for this is that some of the features introduced over the last few versions, as well as the code in general, require particular focus so that the script as a whole is of a high standard again. Only then will it be possible for new functionality to be added. With this in mind, you can soon expect a robust and solid programme which your end-users will find to be clearer and more intuitive. For example it will be easier to identify the comments by admin, replies will have an arrow pointing to them, and there will be fewer countries to select from thus making the field far quicker to use. In addition, the admin panel will be translatable and the code will be valid XHTML/CSS. Also, many variables will be renamed to be self-explanatory. The release date for this version is planned for later this month.

Like/Dislike
22nd April 2011 A new feature is being developed which allows visitors to like or dislike each comment. It uses Ajax and it can be tested on the beta page. Also being developed is a Report Comment feature. All feedback is welcome.

New Year
30th December 2010 While much focus is on the fast-approaching new year, it also means that the Commentics project is in the vicinity of being (officially) 6 months old. During this period it has made numerous convincing steps towards providing a comprehensive and yet robust comments script. With around 2000 downloads, 200 demo comments, 200 add-on downloads and over 1000 forum posts, it is clear that there is substantial interest in Commentics and the many benefits it offers to modern website owners. It is hoped that this will greatly increase in the year 2011 in what will be a critical time for the project as it advances by releasing further versions including such features as comment reply and social links. However this will only be possible through continued (as well as new) use of the script so a big 'thank you' to all users, especially those who contribute in some way, and good luck for the next year!

12th August 2010 The very first user-submitted add-on is now available on the add-ons page. Contributed by forum member Static, it is called Arbitrary ID and it allows the automatic creation of pages on-the-fly by removing the need for adding pages in the admin panel first.

Commentics.org Launches
7th July 2010 Today marks the launch of the Commentics.org website. Although the main purpose of the website is to provide the ability to download Commentics, a free PHP comments script, you will also find a number of other parts. These currently include the support forum, the demo, the add-ons section, the FAQ and this blog. As you may have already noticed, the download for Commentics is not yet available. This is due to the need to fully test the script and to complete documentation. In the meantime please test the demo and provide feedback, as this will ensure that Commentics is released as soon as possible.
