Comments appearing on multiple pages but comment input only on one page
Easiest to show what I'm trying to do.
Softball website: Main page where people can comment on recent game. http://www.societygonewild.com/emptypitchers/ Each week I move the previous week's game to a page with all that season's recaps: http://www.societygonewild.com/emptypitc...sonten.php Can I somehow capture/display comments from previous weeks without a form for adding more comments on the season recap pages? What part of the code would I leave out to eliminate the form and just display comments? Each week, can I change the page url under Manage --> Pages to reflect the season recap page and create a "new" page for the Index page? |

RE: Comments appearing on multiple pages but comment input only on one page
I'm not quite sure what you mean. If you mean that you want to rename the page where a certain comment session is and then archive it without allowing new comments, then you go to manage->pages and edit the page you want to archive. Then, under "form enabled" select no. It will then show the comments without the form. If I misunderstood you, please tell me.

RE: Comments appearing on multiple pages but comment input only on one page
The only problem that I foresee is that the 'top' and 'divider' would also be displayed and you may not want the message saying that the form has been disabled. It sounds like you just want the comments displayed and nothing else. Unfortunately Commentics wasn't really designed in that way and I think it would take a few code changes to achieve that.

Just tryin' to push the envelope. =)
Just finished meeting with a client - she is a teacher and has the task of managing a school website for the teachers. Told her about the comments page and she got rather excited about adding it. Applications for this keep popping up... and with 'em I'll keep asking what's possible. Next week Monday is when I'll be "porting" over this week's comments. If the top and divider are there for now, so be it. I'm not trying to win any awards with this site! |

Apologies for dragging up an old thread but could the 'cosmetic' elements you refer to be hidden by giving the archived page its own version of the CSS sheet with display:none against whatever element needs hiding? |

Possibly, I'll look into this again soon.
