How do I moderate all comments?

Solution

To make it so that you need to manually approve every single comment, in the admin panel go to 'Settings -> Approval' and enable the 'Approve Comments' option. Enabling this setting means that all future comments will not appear on your website until you approve them. This can be useful if you're concerned that someone may submit an undesirable comment which your viewers will see. You will receive an email alerting you of the comment and the reason for approval will say "Moderating all comments".

To approve the comment, either:

  1. Go to 'Manage -> Comments'.
  2. Click the Approve button for the particular comment.

Or

  1. Go to 'Manage -> Comments'.
  2. Click the Edit button for the particular comment.
  3. Select 'Yes' in the 'Approved' drop-down list.
  4. Click Update.

Note that if you are detected as the administrator when submitting a comment then your comment will not require approval. This is because, as the administrator, the script knows that your comment will be okay so it won't waste your time making you manually approve it.

If you have selected not to manually approve all comments, there may be times when a comment will still require your approval. For example it may contain a swear word or a hyperlink. To change these settings, go to 'Settings -> Processor'.
